Your first set of dental X-rays is typically taken during your initial appointment. These images allow our dentist to properly evaluate your oral health, check for cavities, assess bone levels, and identify any issues beneath the gums or within the jawbone. This comprehensive set helps us make an accurate diagnosis and create a personalized treatment plan.
After your initial visit, a smaller set of X-rays—usually four images—is taken about once a year to monitor changes in your teeth and gums and to detect new concerns early. In certain situations, such as planning for oral surgery or dental implants, additional imaging may be required. In these cases, we use advanced 3D dental X-rays, also known as CBCT scans, to provide detailed views of the jawbone and surrounding structures. While different treatments may require different types of imaging, most patients receive dental X-rays at their first visit and annually thereafter to maintain optimal oral health.
